Dearest Friends and Smiling Happy Yogis,
I would like to personally share what is going on here at Bikram Yoga Brighton & Hove. As you may have noticed, we have stopped offering class cards and memberships. The studio is in a time of transition and uncertainty, and in order to remain honest and operate with integrity, we are currently only taking Drop In fees.
The 'Drop In' fee has been reduced to £8 (£7 concs), which means it is the same price as if you had a bought a 20 Class Card). We are also offering the Intro package at £10 for 10 days.
Sankalpa (intention) is a powerful thing - and mine was to bring this amazing form of yoga to Brighton, to offer a large bright studio, with enough showers and space so that you have room to breathe, and to give you, our yoga community and friends, a more enjoyable and healing yoga environment. Our hope was to allow this yoga to help as many people as possible and our intention has always been to teach Bikram Yoga in its purest form.
Such is our passion and motivation for sharing the wonderful benefits of Bikram yoga that we have allowed many of you to practice for free if you genuinely could not afford to pay, and we have extended class cards if you had a valid reason for not being able to attend.
However, the reality of running a Bikram Yoga studio is that
the overheads are enormous (which is why Bikram asks his teachers
to not open more than one studio per area)
, and we have run into many unforseen situations with the
damp, the impact of the heat in an old building, ventilation,
issues with our roof, increasing rates, rent, service charges.
All of which has meant the studio is in
debt, and this in turn has created a huge financial
pressure that we are no longer able to withstand.
We started last year to look for a new studio premises and solutions to the problem - but after looking long and hard, no suitable venue has materialised in Brighton and Hove. I have also been looking to sell the business, to raise enough money to keep the studio open and pay off it's debts. At present I have been unable to do this.
The only option we now have (unless an investor steps forward, or someone knows of a perfect D1/D2 space in the area) is to allow another Bikram teacher to take over, refurbish our studio again so it is beautiful for you once more, to install a new heating system, and to re-open under new ownership. We have been assured that whoever takes over will honour all outstanding memberships.
Meanwhile if you have a current class card or membership,
you are welcome to invite your friends from outside the studio
to practice for free to use up your classes.
We encourage you to come to practice as much as possible.
We are sorry, we cannot offer refunds on any packages.
