Our Studio

The Hall of Love

Bikram Yoga Brighton is conveniently located behind Hove Train Station in the beautiful Grade II listed Old Perfume Factory. Built in 1920's, outside you will see the words ‘Shalimar for Dainty Soft Hands’ in white mosaic tiles underneath our window. We think it was destiny to build our Yoga Studio here; 'Shalimar' is Sanskrit for 'The Hall of Love'.

In the traditional style of the Dubarry Soap and Perfume Factory with exposed original brickwork and views of the sea on a sunny day, the studio offers a bright, airy space in which to discover your yoga practice. A large reception area offers Juice Bar, Yoga Boutique and a welcoming happy atmosphere. We also recommend alternative therapies by arrangement to complement your cleansing and strengthening process.

A unique experience

The Hot Studio is mirrored and heated to 98-110 degrees which is the correct temperature to enjoy a pure Bikram Yoga experience. Unique to Bikram Brighton is a fresh air valve which releases fresh reheated air into the hot room as necessary – keeping the air fresh no matter how many yoga buddies you are practicing with. Three large heat recovery systems provide 45 air changes an day, reducing humidity levels and refreshing your practice environment.

As you wash your toxins away, you will enjoy spacious WC and changing facilities with 4 showers in each, hairdryer and complimentary Jason Organic shower gel.

Environmental issues

With environmental responsibility in mind, we look for ways to conserve energy and use local suppliers. The studio is insulated and painted with Biofa Natural paints and cleaned using environmentally sound products where possible. Carpets, mats and mirrors are regularly cleaned using eco-friendly non-toxic products. We use and supply only organic shower washes and soaps. Please help us to recycle your plastic water bottles by removing the tops before crushing and placing them in the recycling bins provided.

We believe in reclaiming and restoring old and beautiful furniture and much of the studio was furnished by Magpie Recycling of Brighton; even our sweeping reception desk was purpose built in the 1960’s and rescued from Wilson’s Laundry of Church Rd, Hove! Lighting has been handmade and designed by De Gaudio and Fagerhult and art supplied by local artists David Harkins and Lauren Lambe. Many local students and friends have contributed to the growth and wellbeing of our Bikram Studio – thank-you for your input!
