Meet your Teachers
Bridgett
Ane Goddard - Studio Director & Teacher:
Originally
from Chicago, Bridgett Ane relocated to London from New York in 2007. She began
practicing yoga in 1996 and was introduced to Bikram Yoga in 2000. Fascinated
with the series' systematic approach and perfect balance, Bikram became her yoga
method of choice.
Although not naturally flexible her dedication and approach
towards developing a strong practice has enabled her to reshape her body and her
life to the extent that she has been chosen twice to represent the UK at the International
Yoga Asana Championship.
Having graduated from teacher training
in June 2006, she has since taught all over the US including at Bikram Headquarters
in Los Angeles. A graduate of Ithaca College with a BFA in Acting, she works professionally
as both an actor and a dancer when she's not in the yoga studio.
BA has
also been published in a number of journals, including Yoga Magazine. Bikram's
Class has allowed her to recognize the unlimited potential within each individual
and encourages students to have faith in Bikram's series, to let go of judgment
or fear and practice with courage and compassion.
Simon
Goddard - Studio Director & Teacher:
A
Brighton native, Simon's athletic endeavours began with him running laps at Withdean
Stadium while Dad had a pint at The Sportsman. He played rugby at university (UCL),
and took up competing in triathlon and endurance sports while living in New York
including the Ironman distance.
He was introduced to the Bikram
series in 2006 while living in New York and used Bikram initially to supplement
gym workouts which he disliked enormously. Over a period of 9 months he saw his
body respond favourably to a regular practice of 3/4 times a week, and within
a year was determined to go to the next level and put himself through teacher
training.
This experience gave him a new found desire to teach and
share the series with a wider audience, recognising first hand the countless benefits
for those that simply 'do the yoga'. Although he is still engaged with endurance
sports, Bikram has become his primary work-out for body and mind, developing a
greater sense of balance while providing strength and flexibility.
Having witnessed first hand the effect of a regular practice on himself and his students, Simon walked away from +20 years as a media executive to open 'Bikram in the Lanes' with his wife; recognising the continuing rise in Bikram's popularity was born out of it's accessibility and applicability to everyone.
Naomi Clark
- Teacher:
In
2001 Naomi trained with Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury. She taught throughout
the US, Jamaica, Ibiza and in London before opening in Brighton, the first Bikram
Hot Yoga studio outside of London which she ran for 5 years.
She believes strongly that a teacher's responsibility lies in continual study and in Satya (truthfulness) as a priority in yoga.
Informed also by
teachers including Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and Rusty Wells, and having passed on
her studio, she was inspired to explore diverse ways of practicing, which led
her to study Yoga Therapy with the Yoga Biomedical Trust, and expanded her practice
leading retreats overseas.
She has judged regularly at the
UK Yoga Asana Championships and remains as in love with the pure Bikram method
now as when she first steppedon to a mat 12 years ago.
When not
in the studio, she's being inspired by her five-year-old son, her organic vegetable
garden, and the pursuit of the good things in life. Her class is suitable for
all levels; dynamic, uplifting and informative, leaving you cleansed and connected.
